Its funny to read comments criticizing sehwag. For people who crib about technique, I have to say he has one of the best techniques for an attacking batsman. What do you mean by technique.?Its a way you bat to score runs with minimum risk. People overrate the need for textbook technique. Textbook technique is needed for ordinary mortals, because that is the only way to score runs safely. Remember, safe is just a mental state. What sehwag perceives as safe is not perceived as as safe by ordinary people. They find it risky.Sehwag is just in another plane and he plays his game which he feels is safe. He has amazing hand eye cordination, he can pick up length early, he always picks gaps and his timing his pristine. You cant teach this. They are inborn. That's his genius. He has a great body balance and steady head. These qualities make him to score at an extraorinary rate without the need for so called minimum footwork. But remember, he uses his body balance in an optimum way. His way of scoring works best for him because of his unbeleivable qualities. When u dont have these qualities u have to resort to classical textbook ways of playing, thats the only way u would score runs aka Dravid. players like Sehwag dont need to resort to classical technique to score runs. Further cricket is about scoring runs, not a platform to display your classical technique without scoring runs. Sehwag realizes this unlike so called cricket pundits.
Further, he plays cricket the way it has to be played. He has utter disregard for landmarks. Tell me how many batsmen would get their triple hundred with a six. If you listen to his interviews, he always speaks about winning, not about acheiving personal landmarks aka Sachin.
Sad that he is criticized unfairly.Hats off to his genius...He is the most unbeleivable batsman of our times
